Rare Italian Engineer Regiment Paratroopers Challenge coin
This rare coin is Italian AND involves engineers AND paratroopers AND Saint Michael AND their mascot: a boar.
The front of this Italian challenge coin has an incredibly detailed knight with wings spanning the length of this 1.50 inch coin. The text along the top of the coin reads: Reggimento Genio Guastatori Paracadutisti “Folgore” which translates to Italian Engineer Regiment Paratroopers “Folgore” . The text along the bottom reads: Avanti E’ La Vita this translates to: Forward is Life Also on the front of the coin is a parachuted image and a crest with wings and a bolt of lightning. Behind the knight, the text reads: Michele Arcangelo Santo Patrono Dei Paracadutisti . My Italian isn’t that great, but I’m pretty sure it translates to: Michael the Archangel Patron Saint of Paratroopers
The back of the coin reads: Compagnia Guastatori Paracadutisti “Cinghiali” . This translates to: Parachute Breakdown Company “Boars”. The text along the lower area of the coin reads: Supra Vires Audaces . The same text is located inside the yellow banner. Google wasn’t able to translate it, anyone know what it means? Also on the back of the coin, a boar with red eyes and a red tongue race across the yellow banner. Two battle axes are displayed below the boar and a flaming sword stands in front of a fully opened parachute.
This coin is made from a lighter alloy metal coin.
